During her DJ set at the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas this weekend, Grimes played an unreleased song called “Welcome To The Opera.”
The track opened the musician’s evening at the festival on Saturday night (May 21). It’s a collaboration with producer Anyma, who Grimes tagged in a tweet when confirming her title.
She later tweeted that she would drop a demo of the song if Anyma was on board, but would still like to edit the song further before the final version is officially released.

Because it was a livestream I’ll probably drop the demo if Anyma is down but I’d still like to edit the song further which will probably make y’all hate me but just so it’s live for a time https://t.co/blB4hbtqmW

While the DJ set didn’t draw much inspiration from her own music, Grimes released a Bloodpop remix of her “Miss Anthropocene” era cut “We Appreciate Power.” Hana, who features on the song, joined Grimes on stage as it was performed.
Grimes also played two recent singles, “Player of Games” and “Shinigami Eyes”, both of which are slated to appear on his upcoming album “Book 1”.

Elsewhere in his set, Grimes incorporated elements of Prince’s “When Doves Cry,” “Mooo!” by Doja Cat, Enya’s “Orinoco Flow (Sail Away)”, Radiohead’s “Creep”, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You”, Richard Wagner’s classic “Ride of the Valkyries” and more Again.
Although a release date is yet to be confirmed, Grimes’ new album “Book 1” is due later this year, following 2020’s “Miss Anthropocene.”
