On March 3, 2022, Oscar-nominated composer Marco Beltrami will present his new project “Bach by Beltrami”.
Known for his scores for films such as ‘The Hurt Locker’, ‘A Quiet Place’ and Wes Craven’s ‘Scream’ series, this new work will deconstruct and reinvent Bach’s ‘Preludes’, which will be performed by violinist Sandy Cameron, Lucia Micarelli, cellist Eric Byers and the Delirium Musicum Chamber Orchestra of Los Angeles under the direction of Etienne Gara.
“I can think of no better way for me, as a composer, to combat the climate of anti-intellectualism, than to pay homage to Bach, the master,” Beltrami said in a press release. “His music contains the musical seeds of the human condition. It transcends pain, suffering and oppression by providing freedom of thought. Many people don’t know Bach because he was stuffed into a rigidly labeled box that one is supposed to open without proper training. The purpose of this project is to take Bach out of that box and reveal sides to him that have remained obscured from public view. To clearly show its relevance and the variety of emotional contents that it endured and transcribed, and which found a sympathetic echo in me. I interpreted Bach’s card with my own emotional compass.
The show will take place at Soraya in Northridge, Calif., with tickets available for purchase starting at $41.
