CAMDEN – Traditional acoustic music duo Castlebay will open another year of SoundCheck concerts at Camden Opera House, 29 Elm Street on Friday, January 7 at 7:30 p.m.
Seasoned with heritage and humor, Castlebay’s Winter in New England program features both music, poetry, and colonial and contemporary stories. Traditional songs and airs are accompanied by guitar, Celtic harp, violin and woodwinds. New England winter traditions are steeped in old country inspiration, while reveling in the beauty and spirit of the New World. Amid the challenges of dealing with snow and ice or providing food and warmth on a daily basis, New Englanders appreciate the artistry of nature’s brilliant crystal-clear days and chilly nights and starry. Castlebay and the opera house all invite to join in the merriment and music of a bygone era.
Tickets cost $ 10 and advance purchase is encouraged via camdenoperahouse.com and 207-236-3154. The opera’s do-it-yourself ticketing software guarantees a distance between the two rows, as well as a few seats on either side of each party’s reservation. Masks are compulsory in the building.
The doors will open at 7 p.m. SoundCheck is also streamed live on the Opera’s Facebook page.
The SoundCheck series debuted in 2020 with the goal of maintaining live performances. Audiences ranged from half capacity to live broadcast only, depending on the circumstances. The series is supported by sponsors and donations to the Community Arts Fund. For more information and to donate, visit camdenoperahouse.com.
